چکیده

The quantitative assessment of habitat conservation status is a major task for European Union member states in compliance with Council Directive 92/43. One goal the 2030 Biodiversity Strategy effective management habitats that show declining trends. While various approaches have been adopted national assessments, there no consensus on how to achieve common statistically sound estimates criteria indicated by EU evaluation and trend types. Here, we present an adaptive monitoring approach based two-phase sampling scheme estimate coverage terrestrial types, which one four Habitats Directive. We used 9 distributed among different choosing Italy as case study. development methodological described, simulation study was performed check precision estimators accounting lack sampled data (nonresponse treatment), subregions sustainable effort. found our has potential increase estimating types (approximated at 1 ha cell size) respect achieved simple random without replacement, simplest approach. Adopting small fraction (⩽0.04%) survey area, relative standard errors ranged from 7 15% whose presence strongly correlated suitability scores furnished expert team. In challenging context “mandated” type, provides statistical possibility applying standardised transferable easily repeatable over time.

cluster sampling for determination of immunization coverage: a limitation

evidence provided from studies in iran points to a possible bias in application of the standard epi cluster sampling procedure, when carried out in populations with highly variant birth rates, tends to over-represent the low birth rate, i.e. higher socio-economic, strata, and if the entity under study shows significant socio-economic gradient, then the estimates arrived at by this method might ...

Psychometric Characteristics of a Rating Scale for Assessing Interactional Competence in Paired-Speaking Tasks at Micro-level

Developing rating scales for assessing interactional performance is demanding since it is a relatively complicated procedure. The present study investigated the psychometric characteristics of the CAP rating scale (Wang, 2015) for assessing interactional competence at micro-level. To this end, 160 Iranian intermediate EFL learners were selected based on their performance on TOEFL iBT test from ...

Which is the optimal sampling strategy for habitat suitability modelling

Designing an efficient sampling strategy is of crucial importance for habitat suitability modelling. This paper compares four such strategies, namely, ‘random’, ‘regular’, ‘proportional-stratified’ and ‘equal-stratified’*/to investigate (1) how they affect prediction accuracy and (2) how sensitive they are to sample size. In order to compare them, a virtual species approach (Ecol. Model. 145 (2...

Imperfeito: a broad-coverage study*

1. Introduction Imperfeito is an important tense in Portuguese, both because of its frequency and because of its undisputable aspectual import. Several researchers have emphasized different properties of Imperfeito. In this study, I set out to investigate actual uses of Imperfeito in real text, to assess the various proposals. It is my hope that the work presented here can be classified as theo...

Habitat-performance relationships: finding the right metric at a given spatial scale.

The field of habitat ecology has been muddled by imprecise terminology regarding what constitutes habitat, and how importance is measured through use, selection, avoidance and other bio-statistical terminology. Added to the confusion is the idea that habitat is scale-specific. Despite these conceptual difficulties, ecologists have made advances in understanding 'how habitats are important to an...
